The laboratory’s scientific activities are aimed at the search for biologically active compounds, development of new drugs and safety evaluation. Research includes studies of the antitumor, anticarcinogenic, antimicrobial, antiarrhythmic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory activity and effects on DNA structure of naturally occurring and synthesized chemical compounds. In the laboratory, preclinical toxicity studies of new potential drugs under conditions of single and repeated dose injection, studies of their cumulative and possible carcinogenic effects are carried out, as well as biological control of the quality of pharmaceuticals and finished drugs.
The studies are carried out in accordance with the requirements of the guidelines for preclinical studies of efficacy and safety of new drugs developed by leading organizations (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, International Conference of Harmonization, European Medicines Agency, US Food and Drug Administration, Евразийское экономическое сообщество).
